Top issues during term (7)
utility infrastructure recovery
You might see some unexpected costs for home repairs or temporary heating, but the city is footing the bill for the main grid fixes.
police department oversight
Taxpayers are footing the bill for these investigations, and any potential legal fallout could hit the city budget hard.
City leadership transition
A leadership search could cost the city thousands in recruitment fees and potential salary adjustments for a new hire.
redistricting
While the process itself costs tax dollars, the real impact is how these lines dictate where your property taxes go and how local infrastructure funds are allocated.
police leadership
While the salary is already baked into the city budget, the chief's new priorities could shift how we spend our tax dollars on equipment and training.
franchise fee litigation
Winning this suit could mean a nice boost to the city budget, potentially taking the pressure off local property tax rates.
cultural arts designation
It could cost a little upfront for the application and marketing, but it should pay off by bringing more tourist dollars to local hotels, restaurants, and venues.
